How steam turbines save up to 66,600 tons of CO2 emissions per year

As COP26 enters the final days of discussion, we are publishing another example of how we are supporting our customers to advance a more sustainable world. Our steam turbine offering which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 66,600 tons every year.
Our trusted range of Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch (KK&K) steam turbines are installed to reduce and control steam pressure for the installation and to generate electricity from previously wasted sources of energy.
For sawmill applications, steam is generated in boilers which burn sawmill waste. Howden steam turbines are positioned to support and reduce sawmill waste by converting and reusing its energy. Howden can also supply the generator and condenser, which are the key components of the power plant and production system.
As a result, our customers can harvest renewable energy as a by-product of their sawmill waste to help power the plant, bringing cost savings as well as environmental benefits by reducing CO2 emissions. Sawmill waste has zero commodity value so the project avoids external waste disposal.
Howden steam turbines can generate around 200,000 MWh of green renewable electricity per year from sawmill waste. This will save 66,600 tons of CO2 emissions.
On the final day of COP26, we publish our TESCR Gas Gas Heater sustainability sheet. Find out more about how we can help avoid Co2 emissions of up 64,00 tonnes per year.
In celebration of COP26 we publish our steam turbine sustainability sheet. See how we can help save up to 66,600 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
In celebration of COP26 we publish our Marine sustainability leaflet. See how we can help reduce CO2 emissions by up to 38,000 tonnes a year.
Howden will supply compressors for one of Europe’s largest biofuels facilities, supporting the global energy transition and the shift away from carbon-based fuels.
Howden have agreed to acquire Compressor Products International, a leading provider of aftermarket components and services to the global reciprocating compressor market.
Howden is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of Spencer Turbine from Alliance Portfolio Holdings, Inc. This is Howden Group’s fifth acquisition in 2021.
