Howden has been awarded a contract to supply Parteks paper industry Inc with its steam turbine technology to recover and convert steam to electricity.

Exporting fluting, test liner papers, corrugates cardboard and tissue paper to more than 50 countries around the world, Parteks Paper Industry Inc. need reliable equipment as part of their process, including the right steam pressure for constant operations of their paper mill. Howden’s Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch TWIN steam turbine series will optimise the steam supply to the process and produce electricity to bring cost and energy efficiencies into their critical process. The TWIN steam turbine will operate with saturated steam at the turbine inlet and outlet and will drive a generator for electrical power supply. Additionally, the turbine provides two different back pressures to regulate the steam pressure for constant operations of the paper mill.

Enabled by Howden Uptime, a digital monitoring solution built into the turbo generator, the steam turbine’s performance will be monitored to optimise its performance and production time to the highest levels, whilst reducing total cost of ownership.

By working closely with Parteks, we were able to develop the right solution to suit their process and meeting their operational and environmental goals. Our steam turbines are built to the very highest quality standard and proven reliability developed over the last 100 years. The TWIN steam turbine will optimise their operations and bring cost and energy efficiencies by capturing and using an important resource that would have otherwise been lost. With the latest electricity prices, Howden estimates its steam turbines will generate significant energy savings with the estimated payback period in less than one year.

Emma Cunningham, Interim Chief Operating Officer of Howden

Howden is a leading turbo machinery manufacturer supplying a comprehensive range of high-efficiency steam turbines. With over 100 years of experience Howden’s steam turbines are designed to the highest quality standards and adhere to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. A unique feature of the steam turbines is the way that they have been designed to be modular, so that they can be connected in a huge different number of combinations. This makes them incredibly flexible and therefore able to fit with a wide range of customer requirements.
