Leading global provider of mission critical air and gas handling products, technologies and services, including advanced hydrogen compression solutions, Howden, has won Impact Individual Achievement of the Year at the Hydrogen Impact Investment Awards 2022.

Awarded to Salah Mahdy, Howden’s global director of renewable hydrogen, the award recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the hydrogen industry, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The recognition centres on achievements in hydrogen business strategy, innovation, social responsibility, and project accomplishments.

Over the last year, Howden has played a significant role in providing reliable hydrogen compression solutions to a number of projects across APAC, and around the world. These major milestone developments include supplying hydrogen compression solutions for the world’s largest hydrogen refuelling station in China; the world’s first green steel plant in Sweden; and the world’s first climate neutral fuel (eFuel) plant in Chile. These projects, and others, were developed with the highest levels of safety considerations and are already in operation, working to reduce carbon emissions.

Speaking at the award ceremony in Singapore, Camille Levy, Howden President for APAC, commented: “While this is an individual award, it really recognises the hard work of our entire hydrogen team and is a proud moment for the business. Howden is committed to supporting its customers both in the APAC region, and globally. We have invested heavily in innovation to support the energy transition and it’s great to see these efforts being acknowledged.”

I am truly honoured to receive this award that recognises years of hard work supporting the clean hydrogen and ammonia economy globally. It encourages us at Howden to continue supporting the global energy transition through the delivery of safe and efficient hydrogen compression technologies, which enables us to demonstrate our skills as a market leader in the sector.
