Pelletising

Directing heated and cooled air where it is needed and recycling heat to save energy

Whether using the straight grate process or adding a rotary kiln to make the grate-kiln process, our products are key to the process.  To dry and heat the ore pellets, a number of fans are used to recycle heat from the kiln. After indurating in the kiln, cooling fans are used to cool the pellets for handling downstream, and fans are used to facilitate dust handling. Our Tail End SCR rotary Gas Gas Heaters are being used in the emissions reduction systems of pelletising plants to efficiently transfer heat between the treated and untreated gases.

Comprehensive, Customized Services

Every Howden product is backed by an absolute commitment to lifetime support and service that covers all spare parts, troubleshooting, scheduled maintenance and emergency response. We are dedicated to maintaining your plant at peak performance and, above all, keeping it in continuous production.

Bespoke Packages

Some of today's most arduous applications for Howden products are found in the iron and steel industry. The need to move large volumes of air or gas, in many cases at high pressures and high dust burdens, places stringent demands on the mechanical design of the impeller.

In-House Expertise

Our fans are highly efficient designs, reducing power consumption in an energy intensive industry, while operating in high temperature and erosive environments. Our extensive experience in each application enables us to provide equipment of great reliability with the consequent reduction of unplanned outages.

  • Preheat fan

The preheating fan is recycling heat from waste gases from the kiln to heat up the pellets.

  • Downdraft drying waste gas fan

This fan will dry the pellets by recycling waste gases from  the heating process and force the waste gases through a dust removal system.

  • Updraught drying supply fan

This fan utilizes heat from the cooling process for the first drying stage of the pellets and forces the waste gases through a dust removal system.

  • Cooling fans

Cooling fans supply ambient air to cool the pellets for downstream material handling.

  • Windbox recuperator fan

This fan supplies heated combustion air by recycling heat from the traveling grate.

  • Hood exhaust fan

This induced draught fan draws dust from the process through a dust removal system and releases the cleaned gases to the atmosphere.

  • Windbox exhaust fan

To collect the waste gases and draw them through a dust collection system before releasing the cleaned gases to the atmosphere.

  • Gas Gas Heaters

Used in tail end DeNOx systems to transfer heat between the treated and untreated gas streams minimising supplementary fuel burn for the SCR.
