Five reasons to convince your boss to send you to the 2019 Howden air & gas users group

For the past decade, Howden has proudly hosted a conference known as the Howden Air & Gas Users Group (HAGUG). Industry professionals from all over North America come to various cities in the region to learn from our Howden experts. With a subject matter geared towards the coal-fired power industry, attendees include Reliability & Performance Managers, Outage Planners, Plant System Owners and many more from power plants throughout the US and Canada.

Below we have outlined the top five reasons why you should attend this year’s users group.

1. Engaging learning environment

Hands down, the number one reason to attend is the vast amount of technical knowledge you will gain from our industry experts. Our experts come together from all over the world to share their knowledge and technical expertise; from lessons found in our Fan Engineering Handbook to the latest in the technology developments from our Technical Bulletins.

We believe in creating a stimulating and engaging learning environment. This year we have deliberately chosen a venue in close proximity to our Medina Service Center. On Wednesday August 7th we will spend a full day at Medina to experience hands-on training. With the smaller group sizes and real-life scenarios, the day spent at the Service Center will be worth the trip.

2. Access to global experts and leaders

With over 160 years of experience, the Howden brand is synonymous with industry experts. At the users group we will have on staff our global product experts – from our axial team from Denmark to our air preheater team from Spain, our cooling fan team from the Netherlands to our local experts, you’ll be able to have your questions answer by the correct people.

In addition, our local technical experts, field operations team members and our Medina staff will all be available to help you. Whether it’s a detailed technical question or an implementation question, there will be someone there with the experience to answer your question.

Digital highlight: Dr. Maria Wilson is one of our Keynote Speakers and presenting on our Digital Solutions and what the opportunities this will bring the market.

3. To network

With the experts availability mentioned above, along with coal-fired power colleagues from around North America, you will network with the best of the best in the industry. If you’ve ever attended a conference or tradeshow you know that networking is valuable and is a constant; between classes, during meals, during breaks. In addition to the natural networking, every year we like to plan an event that gets everyone out of the hotel and in a relaxing environment. You’ll strengthen business connections, gain fresh ideas, exchange best practice knowledge and develop long-lasting professional relationships.

This year we have reserved suites at the Cleveland Indians game on Tuesday evening. Completely free to all who attend; enjoy a night of food, refreshments, baseball and good company.

4. The location

Cleveland is one of the country’s hidden gems. Situated right along Lake Erie, it is home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Browns and Indians. Take advantage our hotel rate and come early or stay the weekend.

The Cleveland Marriot Downtown at Key Tower is in a prime location and within walking distance to many landmarks, restaurants and shops. Recently renovated, this 25-story luxury hotel is sure to impress.

The rejuvenated energy reverberating through Downtown Cleveland’s historic districts, pouring out from its stadiums, glistening along the Lake Erie shoreline and mingling among skyscrapers and historic buildings is worth the visit alone. Downtown Cleveland is buzzing with nightlife, restaurants, attractions and hotels

5. The price

Just because we’ve left this topic to last, doesn’t mean it’s any less important. It’s probably the best part! This valuable experience is absolutely free for you to attend – the trainings, the trips, the ballgame and your meals. The only thing you are required to pay for is your travel to and from Cleveland and your hotel stay. We have negotiated a lower rate of $174/night with the hotel for everyone attending
