How do I choose the right vapor compressor technology?

Ask Howden. We are happy to work with you to evaluate all of the different technologies on the aspects below to help you make the most practical technology decisions to best benefit your plant's bottom line

Performance

Identify which of the many different product technologies may fit the flow and delta-T demands for the project…different technologies will come with different combinations of capital expense, operational efficiencies and cost, and product, installation, or maintenance features, and so there may be more than one technology choice and combinations of product value to your operation. Ask Howden to help you weigh and measure the differences.

Operational Cycles / Turndown

Changes in MVR process chemistry, feed, throughput, seasonal, etc. all will have significant affect on the overall efficiency and power consumption of the vapour compressor: different compressor technologies and methods of flow control will have very different energy demands and therefore operational costs across these load changes.

Fouling Potential

Howden offers a full spectrum of aftermarket services across the world to help keep your plant operational and productive, from spare parts and regular inspection / maintenance programs to full turnkey installation and rebuild services. With a presence in around 30 countries and the largest global aftermarket team in the fan and compressor industry, we have the depth and breadth to minimise your maintenance costs and downtime to maximise your uptime.

Financial

CAPEX: Each technology will have a different capital cost

OPEX: Each technology will have a different operating cost

Power Source

The energy required to drive the vapour compressor may be available as electricity from the grid, excess plant steam, fossil fuel for an engine, etc., each with different affects to capital and operational costs.

Component Technology

With each compressor technology comes different component technology, options and resulting value in lifetime and maintenance costs. Be sure to ask if the product design and components are selected for you case to simply be the lowest cost option, or the right option for your long term plant operation expectations.
