  • ​Howden’s design is based on over 700 installations world-wide operating on a wide variety of fuels and under many boiler designs. For ash handling projects at power plants, we have experience ranging from 75 MW to over 900 MW. Howden submerged conveyor systems handle all types of coal – including lignite, bituminous, and anthracite.


  • ​Collects, quenches and dewaters ash in a single piece of equipment - discharged ash ready for sale or disposal.
  • Can be installed directly under furnace throat eliminating operations and maintenance costly wet bottom ash hoppers and sluicing systems or remotely as a dewatering device, eliminating the need for an ash pond.
  • Capable of removing large slag pieces and restart with significant ash inventory/backlog.
  • Low water consumption, reducing operating costs, more environmentally friendly.

Our lifelong aftercare service will supply original replacement parts, support you with maintenance and installation, and even train your own engineers in maintenance techniques. We keep detailed plant records almost indefinitely, and regularly supply spare parts for machinery over 50 years old.
