At Howden we are passionate supporters of attracting young talent to our workforce. This is why Howden are proudly supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2021. Throughout this week, Howden will be celebrating the benefits apprenticeships bring to businesses, individuals and the economy.

This year’s theme is #BusinessBackingTalent, to showcase the great things that happen when employers back talent through apprenticeships.  At Howden, we provide a broad range of opportunities for attracting young and diverse talent through work placements, apprenticeship and graduate programmes.

Our apprenticeship program is key to attracting, developing and retaining talent to support our future growth. To showcase the benefits of apprenticeships schemes, we are committed to developing relationships with local schools to encourage them to explore Engineering and promote STEM careers. We are also passionate about contributing to gender diversity in apprenticeship programmes; as females currently make up less than 18% of higher apprentices in engineering and manufacturing.

Our four year apprenticeship programme provides a variety of different learning objectives. In year one, apprentices will be based in our Training Centre before moving to our factory for hands on experience in each area. In year two, apprentices can choose between two development paths, in either our factory or technical route through our Engineering department. In year three and four, apprentices will complete their apprenticeship programme and achieve their HNC and HND qualification.

Join us throughout this week to hear more from our previous apprentices and learn more about how Howden are proud to be #BusinessBackingTalent 2021.
