Scotland’s national corporate golf tournament came to a climax at the national final of Business Fours on Thursday 29th October at the Duke’s Course in St. Andrews.

A team from our compressors division combined 130 stableford points to become title winners and win a £1,250 donation for their chosen charity, Maggie’s. The event was supported by sponsors, Caddyboo and the players were in with a chance to win £10,000 for their chosen charity if they were lucky enough to hit a hole in one, a feat unfortunately no golfers managed. 

It was Stewart & Shields who claimed second place playing for MND Scotland, narrowly beaten by just 5 stableford points by the Howden team captained by Commercial Director Calum Sharp, who said:
"I am delighted that we were able to take part in this year’s national golf final. Due to the current COVID restrictions, Business Fours went over and above to make sure the tournament was a safe environment for all players. These generous donations will support local communities that are feeling the effects of COVID. This year’s tournament is such an important fundraiser for the many different mental health, youth, and family development programs being provided this year to support local children, teens, adults, families, and seniors. I am thrilled to make a donation to Maggie’s on behalf of Howden Compressors”.
 

I’m absolutely delighted to accept this generous donation on behalf of the visitors, volunteers, and staff at the Glasgow Maggie’s centre. The centre is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations, and like so many other organisations our fundraising has been hard hit this year. Throughout everything we have been there to support people with cancer, but we couldn’t do that without the continued support of people and companies like Howden Compressors, so this donation is very gratefully received.

With 10 companies playing in the tournament, and many quality golfers on display, individual awards went to Stewart & Shields who won the ‘Longest Drive’. Both Nearest The Pins went to Howden Compressors as Calum Sharp and Colin Campbell went pin seeking at holes 3 and 16.
