Howden welcomed Jon Benjamin, Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Mexico, to its Mexico City manufacturing facility in celebration of 50 years of operation in the country.

Following the 50th anniversary in August 2021, Howden was proud to welcome the Ambassador on 4 February. Jon was joined by Juliana Correa and Sergio Andujo, respectively Commercial Attaché and Head of Key Accounts in the British Embassy in Mexico.

The trio were hosted by David Smith, Managing Director, Howden’s Mexico business, as they toured the 45,000 square foot manufacturing facility and met with employees in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli in the State of Mexico. The site employs 177 people in addition to 12 – 16 interns at any time. In collaboration with several local colleges, Howden runs an internship programme that has seen more than 220 interns, mainly engineering students, work at the facility over the last 12 years. On this programme, Howden collaborates with several local colleges including Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN) and Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Cuautitlan Izcalli (TESCI).

It was a pleasure to welcome the Ambassador to our facility and introduce him to the fantastic work done by our employees. The work we do here is vital in supporting our customers around the world to be more sustainable. Our international relationships, including the strong link between Great Britain and Mexico, are key to Howden’s success.
