Howden products play an important role supporting the treatment and processing of gas into all saleable products whether natural gas, LNG or GTL.
LNG is a main energy source for power generation and transportation fuel. Howden products support multiple processes within onshore and offshore (FLNG) production facilities.In a gas processing plant, there may be multiple trains or production units processing a wide variety of gas feeds. From the moment the gas enters the plant to exiting as a saleable product, compression is needed to transfer the gas through the process. Howden products are used extensively within gas treatment - boosting and recycling gas in acid gas removal, sulfur recovery and tail gas treatment units; providing air for combustion and cooling; regenerating dehydration systems; and processing refrigerants in cooling applications such as dew point control and NGL recovery. Power supply onsite is often provided by gas turbine generators. Howden compressors enhance the efficiency of gas turbine generators by boosting fuel gas and cooling inlet air. Howden fans ensure buildings ventilation and aeration, combustion air, desulphurization, incineration and process cooling.

Also known as low pressure compressor. Used to recover gas flashed from the separators to the process (condensate removal unit).
Compressor used to recover NGLs from the gas stream. If using mechanical refrigeration method - refrigerant compressor. And recycling overhead from fractionation towers (deethaniser).
Also known as acid gas compressors. Used to process CO2 recovered from the treatment section and then potentially inject into storage points (e.g. underground) in order to reduce CO2 emissions. Howden supplies CO2 Boost oil injected screw compressors.
Mixed refrigeration system for smaller capacities use a range of compression technologies. Howden supplies oil injected screw compressors for the mixed flow refrigerant unit.
Compressor used within the process the refrigerant gas circulated within the cooling system required to liquefy the gas into LNG. Depending on the process used this could be processing propane (C3), ethylene, methane or a mixed refrigerant. On some processes ammonia pre-cooling can also be used. Propylene may also be used as refrigerant for re-liquefaction.
Compressor used to recycle gas that is formed from the LNG held in storage tanks for use as fuel gas or reliquefaction back into LNG and storage (or to export pipeline).
