#INWED21 is an international awareness campaign which raises the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. Women (and men) all over the globe can help to raise the profile of women engineers and encourage more people to consider engineering as a profession for all.

This year’s theme for this year is #ENGINEERINGHEROES!

This year we’ll be celebrating the amazing work that women engineers are doing in Howden, as well as profiling the best, brightest and bravest women in the engineering sector, who recognise a problem, then dare to be part of the solution!

Why celebrate with us?

We are delighted to announce that Howden Compressors will be hosting a live virtual  webinar on 17th June 2021 between 13:00 -14:30 BST. This event is aimed at young females in S1, S2, S3 and S4 in secondary school.

During the event, you will hear from our Managing Director Emma Muller, as well as our current Apprentices, Engineers and UK HR Advisor. We will explain why a career path in the engineering and manufacturing sector is an exciting one, that has endless opportunities for you to flourish! We have also partnered up a number of academic, training and career bodies to provide you with as much information as possible.

Lesley Laird, Director at Equate Scotland, will give an overview on why introduce why it is important we celebrate and promote Women in STEM subjects and what steps Equate are taking to address the gender balance.

Sharron Rodger, from West College Scotland, will provide a general overview on the fundamentals of an Foundation Apprenticehsip programme and the application process for pupils who are considering applying.

Lorna Bennett, a graduate engineering through Scottish Engineering, will also talk about her #EngineeringHeroes, who inspired her own successful career in the Engineering Sector.

Donna Johnstone, at Primary Engineer, will share an inspiring story about a female school pupil who won the Primary Engineer award and turned her jacket design into reality!

It’s sure to be an extremely informative session and we’d strongly encourage you to join the event to gain an insight into the career opportunities that Howden, and the egineering sector, has to offer. To sign up, please register your attendance via the link below and we look forward to seeing you there!

We would like to thank our partners at Equate Scotland, Scottish Engineering, Skills Development Scotland, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), West College Scotland, National Manufacturing Insititute Scotland and Primay Engineer for their support and guest speakers.
