Howden ‘Highly Commended’ in HR Excellence Awards
Howden has been highly commended by the judging panel at the 2009 HR Excellence awards in London where judges considered examples of best practice and inspirational HR programmes over the past year.
The awards recognise excellence in a wide variety of HR disciplines and Howden was “Highly Commended” for its work in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University, providing an innovative, high quality learning and development programme to support its engineering staff in gaining greater on the job knowledge. Howden Academy has already proven itself by significantly reducing the time taken to turn graduate level engineers into effective Howden employees by providing job specific engineering training in a quality assured centre of excellence. Recent analysis has shown that more than 60% of managers estimated that as a result of attending Howden Academy, engineers’ time to effectiveness had been reduced by 3 months or more.
