Howden Academy wins major National Award
Following our recent ‘Highly Commended’ achievement at the 2009 HR Excellence Awards organised by HR Magazine, Howden was recently announced national winner in the Education, Skills and Leadership Category at the 2009 CBI/Human Capital Awards.
Howden Academy was launched to help engineers build their careers quickly, and it continues to evolve to offer the most effective ways of delivering training and imparting knowledge. Since the Academy was introduced, the scope of its courses has been widened to includes components covering specialist roles such as site supervisors and service engineers, and plans are underway to turn some of the material into interactive e-learning modules.
Embracing technology to support learners is a key element of Howden Academy’s development, and future students will have the opportunity to study material online in advance of joining their course. This will allow more time for additional technical and job-related training.
Analysis of the latest evaluation data shows that over 79% of managers believe that the Academy has reduced the time it takes students to become effective in the workplace, with 54% of those managers stating the reduction is three months or more.
