Howden Compressors is delighted to be one of the sponsors at the 4th Annual CBM Conference in Singapore in July 2011. Our presence at this important event, which includes a display area, will showcase our screw compressor products and services that are used successfully in CBM (coal bed methane) projects worldwide, as well as in many other gas compression applications.

Howden Compressors is an industry leading screw compressor manufacturer, designing and supplying bare shaft screw compressors that are renowned for their efficiency and reliability.  We have supplied over 35,000 screw compressors worldwide, which are used in oil and gas applications (including CBM), petrochemical, power generation and industrial refrigeration plants. Our CBM expertise includes supplying screw compressors for pioneering coal bed methane projects in North America, India and most recently for a major CBM fed LNG (liquefied natural gas) project in Queensland, Australia.

 

Coal Bed Methane is a form of natural gas extracted from coal beds.  Composed typically of 98% methane, 1% nitrogen and less than 1% carbon dioxide, CBM is considered a new ‘cleaner’ source of fuel gas, requiring relatively little treatment before being used. Substantial CBM reserves have been found all over the world, and in recent decades it has become an important source of energy in North America.
