Howden is an accredited supplier to the defense industry of several countries, supplying fans and compressors mainly for naval vessels but also for other applications.

Our fans are used for ventilation duties on many US warships and are designed and manufactured to withstand the extra rigorous demands made on such equipment. Compressors are used for various duties on submarines and surface vessels, the details of which are classified.

Mobile breathing systems for aircraft, navy and fire units incorporate our diaphragm compressors. They enable gases to be stored at very high pressure so increasing capacities for a given volume and helping keep total isolation of the gas from the environment to protect the operators.

We also supply compressors for jet engine start up.

Airscrew Howden Ltd which formerly supplied small fans to the aerospace industry is no longer in existence and these fans are now supplied by Airscrew, part of the Ametek Corporation. www.airtechnologygroup.co.uk
