Industries
The main applications for the Variax® variable pitch axial flow fan are to be found in the power generation industry, firstly as boiler draught fans, ie Forced Draught (FD) fans, Induced Draught (ID) fans and Primary Air (PA) fans, and secondly as booster fans for Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) applications. Howden has supplied over 3000 fans of this type since it was invented in Denmark in 1951.
The Variax® fan can also be used in mine ventilation applications, in situations where relatively frequent variations in air quantity are required, or where effective reversal of flow is needed in the mine.
The TELLUS axial fan is mainly used for clean-room applications.
