Wet Dust Extractors
Howden dust extractors are used in the mining and tunnelling industries to reduce underground dust contamination. They have been proven in operation over many years.
These were originally designed by Engart®, a specialist mining fan company that became part of Howden, and were developed in conjunction with the UK National Coal Board.
In operation dust laden air is drawn into an integral bifurcated axial fan where it is mixed with finely atomised water. This mixture then passes through an irrigated extractor panel with water catchment vanes. The dust is washed to the bottom of the chamber. Collection efficiencies of up to 99% of respirable dust of 5 microns and below can be achieved.
Our dust extractors can be independently mounted on skids or integrated with other equipment such as back up systems to tunnel boring machines
Four sizes are available, from 460 to 915mm diameter, capable of handling volumes from 2.8 to 15m3/s.
