Element Cleaning

To maintain the optimum performance of air heaters or gas-gas heaters it is vital to ensure that the elements are routinely and effectively cleaned. Failure to do so will quickly lead to fouling, an increase in pressure drop and a reduction in heat transfer.

Howden supplies a range of highly efficient sootblowers, which combine steam or air blowing with high and low pressure water washing as appropriate.

For air heaters, our semi-retractable steam blowers are the optimum choice. The multi-head design minimises the length of the cleaning cycle.

Highly effective fully retractable cleaning devices have been developed to minimise the fouling problems encountered with gas-gas heaters and with air preheaters installed on boilers firing “difficult” fuels.

In this design, maintenance can be carried out on both the steam and water lances while the unit is operating, to maximise availability.
