Howden Academy goes from Strength to Strength
The third cohort of Howden Academy is due to start on Monday 27th April 2009, providing 3 weeks job specific technical training to 50 Sales & Sales Proposals Engineers from our businesses around the world.
A major innovation in engineering education & training, Howden Academy has been specially designed to give our new engineers a fast and effective introduction to Howden’s working practices, enabling them to contribute to the company’s productivity as quickly as possible. It offers access to the most up-to-date technical information on our range of products and encourages networks of expertise and friendship to grow across all the company’s worldwide business units. The comprehensive training notes, specially written for the Academy by our own experienced engineers, are also posted on internal Howden computer networks to enable all staff to benefit from the initiative.
Howden Academy was launched in July 2008 with the first cohort of Sales & Proposals Engineers and evaluation feedback from students and their line managers has been very positive.
The second cohort of Contract Managers & Design Engineers all successfully completed their final assessments in December 2008 and returned to their business units with a wealth of new contacts as well as a greatly enhanced understanding of the company’s products and technologies. One of the first students to pass through the Academy neatly summed up the benefits: "The things I learned will allow me to represent Howden in a different and better way. It will make my job easier”.
Thanks to the support of Howden BC in France, the next cohort will include training on diaphragm & piston compressors, in addition to screw/turbo compressors, axial/centrifugal fans & preheaters.
