THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking to recruit graduate trainees onto our IMechE accredited training programme. The course is also consistent with the professional requirements of the IEE. Numbers are determined annually.
THE COMPANY
From its base in the West of Scotland, Howden has been leading the world in the design and manufacture of fans, heat exchangers and compressors for over 150 years. With 3500 employees in 16 countries and equipment operating in another 90, our products operate in key industries such as power generation and petrochemicals where performance and reliability are crucial.
THE PRODUCTS
We have a reputation for engineeering excellence and are acknowledged throughout the world as the market and technical leader, in virtually all our product ranges. Take our fans and blowers for example. You could be designing rotating equipment which absorbs 10MW in shaft power, is running at trans-sonic peripheral speed, or which has the equivalent kinetic energy in its rotor to a goods train running at 100km/hr
THE TRAINING
During the first two years on the training scheme you will gain the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in all areas of the business. Placements lasting 10 weeks in each of the core areas, including: design, project engineering, project management, manufacturing, and field services; ensure that you gain the knowledge, experience and skills required both by the company and by IMechE for Chartered status. The final two years of the training scheme will be spent specialising in your preferred career area.
Primarily you will be based in our Global headquarters in Renfrew (approx. 15 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre). There are also many opportunities for worldwide travel.
Early responsibility and further training are encouraged and the company will support relevant training and personal development.
THE CANDIDATES
You will have a Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Direct entry into engineering positions are also available.
