Air preheaters at Shentou Power Station were permitting excessive amounts of leakage, due to erosion of the sealing surfaces. Conversion to the Howden VN sealing system reduced leakage from 17% to 6%.

Industries

With nearly 75 years experience in the fan industry, Howden Ventilatoren is ideally placed to offer customers, in central and eastern Europe and Russia, individually engineered fans to suit their particular applications

Our experience covers a wide range of applications and today we focus on tunnel and metro ventilation, mine ventilation, fans for power stations and (for the global market) wind tunnel fans.

In this section...

Dust Extractor Mining
Whilst the normal operational demands placed on mine fans may not be as severe as in other heavy industrial processes, the consequences of malfunction are acute. Howden axial and centrifugal mine ventilation fans are designed first and foremost with safety in mind.

Eggborogh Power Station (Photo Courtesy of Scottish and Southern Energy) Power Generation
Power generation demands the highest levels of performance and reliability. Howden fans, heat exchangers and blowers are no exception to this, operating at peak performance for years between outages. Having been part of the power generation industry since its inception, Howden has supplied over...

Axial Tunnel Ventilation Fan Installed on Anti Vibration MountsTunnel Ventilation
Vehicle tunnels and metros require ventilation systems that supply a varying air flow to meet changing traffic conditions and which can remain in operation during emergency situations. Howden tunnel ventilation fans perform this task efficiently, reliably and quietly, and are designed to remain...

A wind tunel fan Wind Tunnels
Increasing demands for improved vehicle efficiency and comfort, and for lower noise levels require components to be tested in wind tunnels.  Since the beginning of the early thirties Howden has been considered as an innovative and competent partner for the supply of wind tunnel fans.

Howden Launch Training Academy

Howden has partnered with Glasgow Caledonian University to create Howden Academy – a new international post graduate programme based at the university which will deliver specialist operational training to hundreds of Howden’s engineering graduates from 16 countries over the next few years.
