Howden Ventilatoren History
1932 Howden Ventilatoren GmbH is formed as the fan division of J.M. Voith GmbH in Germany. The
main business is the engineering, manufacturing and supply of large wind tunnel fans for the
German aircraft industry.
1950s The product range is extended to axial flow fans for air conditioning and cooling systems for
railways, and for mine ventilation.
1960 The first fan for tunnel ventilation systems is supplied.
1980 Howden Ventilatoren enters the German power station market with the supply of FD-, ID- and C-
Position Booster fans.
1989 A joint venture with Novenco AS (Denmark) is established and the company name changed
to “Voith Novenco GmbH”.
1993 Howden Group acquires Novenco Variax and Voith Novenco GmbH becomes part of the Howden
Group as Voith Howden GmbH.
2004 Voith Howden GmbH is re-named Howden Ventilatoren GmbH.
