Variax® variable pitch axial flow fans are primarily used in the power generation industry. They are used as boiler fans, i.e. forced draught (FD), induced draught (ID), primary air (PA) fans and booster fans for flue gas desulphurization (FGD) applications.
The Variax® fan is also used for mine ventilation, in situations where relatively frequent variations in air quantity are required, or where effective reversal of flow is needed in the mine.
Howden has supplied over 3300 axial fans of this type since it was invented in Denmark in 1951.
